Editor’s note: The Autumn Days Grow Short and Cold

By Athina Pantazopoulos and Glenn McAleer

Now that the summer sun has set and our first snowfall has decided to stick, I hope that all of our readers are slowly acclimatising to life in the classroom. While this editor may prefer to rage against the dying of the light, I’m looking forward to hibernating for the season. With mid-terms in full swing and plenty of readings to catch up on, I’m more than ready for my social life to get buried beneath the deep Calgary snow. At least it’s harder to get FOMO when it’s dark at 4 p.m.

With that in mind we are happy to bring you the fall edition of our humble student magazine to curl up with a warm drink and enjoy! It was such a joy to work with so many passionate new contributors and dedicated return writers for this issue, and we are so proud of what we’ve produced. The fall season has been busy for all, and we are looking forward to enjoying a well-deserved Fall Break in the coming weeks. Whether you are using the time to get prepared for upcoming exams, continue networking with law firms, or just enjoying some well-needed rest, the Moot Times is a companion that you will want to have at your side.

Enjoy our legal reporting on the topics that everyone has been buzzing about, including impending tuition increases, tenant rights, and developments in IP law. If you’re looking for something lighter, we also have book reviews, crossword puzzles and, of course, Glenn’s Pens to take your mind off of the heavy topics of our chosen profession.

This edition of the Moot Times is full of exciting articles, including a plethora submitted by our newly-minted 1L contributors. The future of the Moot Times is certainly bright with some intriguing pieces in this edition and coming down the pipeline. We hope that you’re ready and excited to enjoy your hard-earned reading week! Our team is always hard at work putting together another edition for your pleasure, so whether you’re planning to hole-up in the library like me, or travelling the world, consider cracking open the Moot Times’ and keeping up with campus life.

With best wishes from our entire exec team, we hope you face the end of the semester with the same determination and wit that got you to law school to begin with. The winter can only make us stronger.
