Prior to entering law school Randann also had a career in law enforcement. This influenced his desire to become a criminal defence lawyer, but his studies also play a key role in fine-tuning his interests.
Randann’s personal interests include health and fitness, but he balances this with downtime at home. As a firm believer in the need to hear all sides of key issues in the pursuit of truth, Randann is our “most likely to engage in intense dialogue” at The Moot Times.

Her most recent trip was to Kashmir at the beginning of this year, and she is looking forward to her next adventure, which may be in Turkey!
With all of her globe-trotting, Ifrah is definitely the “most likely to wear out her passport” at The Moot Times.

As our resident web guru, Emily is the “most likely to find the Easter Egg” in our group.

Duncan Pardoe is currently a 3L at UCalgary Law. He obtained a BComm from the Haskayne School of Business, where he continues to TA.
Prior to entering law school, Duncan competed in various business case competitions, fencing tournaments, self-published an anthology, and completed an international exchange to Dublin Ireland. During that exchange, he took a drink-making course at the Jameson Whiskey Distillery in Dublin, which laid the groundwork for the mixology skills you see reflected in his amazing cocktails today.
Duncan is passionate about entrepreneurship, cross-cultural education, and emerging technologies like artificial intelligence and biotechnology. He is also very excited to resume his passion for international travel, particularly to destinations with renowned archaeological sites, and – of course – a vibrant cocktail scene to draw inspiration for his next creation.

Ian worked for the City of Edmonton for 9 years before moving to Calgary, and he was also almost a paramedic before venturing into law.
Ian’s legal interests are primarily in energy and environmental law, but he is also fascinated by public interest law. He is a formidable advocate, and through his work, he draws attention to local and international environmental concerns.

Rhys Martin is currently a 3L at UCalgary Law, and he has been with The Moot Times since he commenced his legal studies in 2019. He also holds a BFA in Drama in Technical Theatre and Production from the University of Alberta.
Prior to law school, Rhys spent the better part of a decade working in the performing arts and live events throughout Alberta as a technician and designer. This has granted him a lot of certifications and licences that are not really useful in the legal industry, but make him a very interesting conversationalist!
Since starting law school, Rhys has developed a keen interest in making law accessible through Pro Bono and human rights work, thanks to his time volunteering with Pro Bono Students Canada (PBSC), UCalgary Law Chapter.
In his free time, Rhys enjoys cooking, and he has amassed a sizable cookbook collection.
