Ski Trip Roundup

Contributed by: Robin Young

As the winter semester courses begin to ramp up, law students of every year look forward to a much-needed respite: the annual Law School Ski Trip. Ski Trip 2024 began with the students embarking on a three-hour bus ride to the Panorama Ski Resort in British Columbia. Despite a few hiccups, including being locked out of the storage rooms before the 5:00 p.m. bus ride home, the 2024 trip has been hailed as the best yet. Spearheaded by the Society of  Law Students’ Vice President of Sports and Recreation, Sarah Brewin, the cozy, idyllic and raucous weekend was found to be welcome rest and recreation for 1Ls, 2Ls, and 3Ls alike.

What made this year so special, you might ask? According to multiple sources, the true game-changer was access to the luxurious Panorama Hot Pools. After a long night of exuberant dancing at the local bar, or a long day of skiing, the healing waters of the hot pools were a perfect way to destress from law school and all its pressures. The view from these pools was priceless: they were located right next to the ski hills where you could watch your friends glide down the scenic slopes. Additionally, these pools were the perfect venue to relax, chat, and make new friends.

Some of the other favorite activities among skiers and non-skiers alike were the two themed parties, in which students adorned silly outfits and danced the night away. The first was a classic—the legendary bus ride pajama party—and the second was “animal print.” Both parties ended up at the bar, where a DJ played classic tunes from the 60s-90s. This trip was truly something to remember, and one of the best weekends of the school year by far! Those who were unable to attend this year ought to consider going next year to experience the same fun, excitement, and welcome respite!
